The steel-jacketed steam pipe, also known as steel-in-steel insulated pipe, is designed to transport steam and other high-temperature media, including in buried installations. The working steel pipe is enclosed in an outer steel casing, with a multi-layer insulation system in between.
Sliding guide brackets support the working pipe inside the casing and allow it to move freely as it expands and contracts with temperature, while the air gap and reflective layer further limit heat loss. The outer casing and its anti-corrosion coating protect the whole system from moisture and soil loads.
Structure
- Working steel pipe: high-quality steel pipe carrying the steam
- Glass wool insulation layer around the working pipe
- Aluminum foil reflective layer to reduce radiant heat loss
- Stainless steel fastening bands holding the insulation in place
- Sliding guide brackets supporting the working pipe inside the casing
- Air insulation layer between the insulation and the casing
- Outer protective steel pipe with an outer anti-corrosion layer
Application areas
- District heating steam networks
- Industrial steam supply lines
- Power plants and cogeneration systems
- Petrochemical and process plants
- Buried high-temperature pipelines
