Steel Pipes

Fire-Fighting Plastic-Coated Steel Pipe

Plastic-coated steel pipe for fire protection systems, with a plastic anti-corrosion layer that keeps the pipe interior clean, corrosion resistant and low in friction.

Fire-Fighting Plastic-Coated Steel Pipe

A plastic-coated steel pipe uses a steel pipe as its base, with a plastic anti-corrosion layer fused to the inner surface through spraying, rolling, dipping or suction processes. It can also be produced as a steel-plastic composite pipe with a plastic anti-corrosion layer on both the inner and outer surfaces. The result combines the strength and rigidity of steel with the corrosion resistance and low friction of plastic.

In fire-fighting systems, water often stands in the pipework for long periods before it is needed. The plastic lining prevents internal rust and scale that could restrict flow or block sprinkler heads, helping the system deliver water reliably when a fire occurs.

Key features

  • Steel base pipe for mechanical strength and pressure resistance
  • Plastic anti-corrosion layer on the inner surface, or on both inner and outer surfaces
  • Corrosion resistant – protects the steel from the conveyed medium
  • Low friction – smooth inner wall reduces flow resistance and scaling
  • Helps keep the pipe bore clear for reliable water delivery in an emergency

Application areas

  • Fire sprinkler systems
  • Fire hydrant and fire water networks
  • Commercial, residential and public buildings
  • Industrial plants, warehouses and tunnels
