Polyurethane insulation pipe – in full, a prefabricated direct-buried insulated pipe with a high-density polyethylene outer jacket and polyurethane foam insulation – is designed to carry hot or chilled media underground with minimal heat loss.
It consists of a steel service pipe that transports the medium, a polyurethane foam insulation layer and an outer jacket made of polyethylene. The three components are combined in sequence by dedicated production equipment into a single bonded unit, which can be laid directly in the ground without a concrete trench.
Structure
- Steel service pipe: carries the medium and withstands the operating pressure
- Polyurethane foam insulation: low thermal conductivity for reduced heat loss
- High-density polyethylene outer jacket: protects the insulation against groundwater, corrosion and mechanical damage
Being prefabricated, the pipe shortens installation time on site, and its direct-buried design removes the need for trenches or ducts, reducing overall construction cost.
Application areas
- District heating networks
- Hot water supply lines
- Chilled water and district cooling systems
- Industrial process pipelines for hot or cold media
- Oil and heavy-fuel transport lines requiring heat retention
