3PE anti-corrosion steel pipe is a steel pipe protected on its outer wall by a three-layer structural polyethylene coating. It is one of the most widely used external anti-corrosion systems for steel pipelines and combines the strong adhesion of epoxy with the mechanical toughness of polyethylene.
The coating is applied to straight seam, spiral or seamless steel pipe after surface preparation, creating a continuous protective barrier that shields the steel from soil moisture, chemicals and mechanical damage.
Structure
- Layer 1 – epoxy primer: bonds directly to the steel surface and provides corrosion resistance
- Layer 2 – adhesive: links the epoxy layer to the outer polyethylene
- Layer 3 – polyethylene: tough outer layer that protects against impact, moisture and abrasion
Application areas
- Buried water supply and transmission pipelines
- Oil and natural gas pipelines
- Municipal gas distribution networks
- Industrial and chemical fluid transport
- Pipelines in aggressive or wet soil conditions
